What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient tradition of healing using the hands to transfer Universal Life Energy. Universal Life Energy is the unseen energy that animates all living things. If your life force is low, or restricted in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness; when it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick. Life force or life energy not only animates the body, but it is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. This healing technique is based on the principle that the practitioner can transmit Universal Life Energy to the client by means of placing the hands just off the body or by lightly touching the body. As the energy flows through the client, it encourages healing on mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Reiki is known as "universal life force" and is an energy that operates on a higher and faster vibration to promote healing. This holistic healing system originated in Japan. Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator, in his spiritual search for true healing, rediscovered the key which lead to the recovery of this tradition of healing in the 2,500-year-old Sanskrit Sutras. This took place at the end of the 19th Century. Dr. Usui subsequently worked with and taught this system called Reiki. Reiki has been carried on and developed over the last century by highly dedicated teachers and practitioners.
What to Expect
The experience of Reiki is unique to each individual, as is the reasons for seeking a Reiki treatment. Clients often report experiencing a sense of deep relaxation during a Reiki treatment. Some clients report vivid dreams, seeing different colors, experiencing warmth and tingling, and even falling asleep. While receiving a Reiki treatment, the practitioner will be a conduit for the Universal Life Energy and facilitate it's flow through the client for the greatest and highest good. Shall your experience and journey with Reiki be for the most benevolent outcome.
A Reiki session takes about an hour. This may vary to meet your needs.
The practitioner's hands are placed on or near your body in the Reiki Positions to transfer energy.
Recipients are mostly laying down relaxing.
Recipient may feel energy as it is received or may feel nothing.
Physical, emotional, mental or spiritual responses may occur i.e, physical sensations, emotional release, realizations, visual experiences etc...
Reiki balances and vitalizes the system on all levels.
Reiki is most often very relaxing.
An open and receptive heart and mind ins helpful in receiving the full benefit of treatment, although no particular belief is necessary for Reiki to work.
